Professor of Welsh History and Pro Vice-Chancelor, Aberystwyth University until 2013; Vice-President and Chief Executive, National Library of Wales; Literary Director, Royal Historical Society; editor of three historical journals. Latterly co-director of the ETMIET periodicals research project at Panteion University, Athens (2016-present) and in 2016-7 was also Visiting Professor of International History at Northwest Universiy, Xi’an, China.
