Monika Schmitz-Emans works as a professor for comparative literature at the University of Bochum.  She has studied German philology, Philosophy, Pedagogics, Italianistics and Science of art in Bonn where she has received her Ph.D in 1984. After qualifiying as a professor in 1992, she then came to Bochum in 1995.
